“We have Asian Heritage Month to make the point that Asian voices have been left out of the conversation. There are over 40 nationalities within the “Asian” category, each with their own distinct heritage. We have to continue to amplify Asian voices because we are not a monolith; we each have our own truths to bring to the table. I, for one, am the child of Bangladeshi immigrants. Every time I think about the implications of the law, I keep that perspective in the back of my mind.”
