Greenberg Presents on Implicit Bias, Zoom, and Justice
On October 7th, Professor Elayne E. Greenberg presented Zooming in on ‘isms at the 15th Annual AALS ADR Section Works-in-Progress Conference. This year’s WIP was hosted by the University of Oregon School of Law. Are mediators’ and arbitrators’ implicit biases exacerbated when conducting their dispute resolution processes for civil matters via video conferencing? Professor Greenberg and her colleague Dr. Gilat Bachar will be conducting a multi-part study on this unexplored justice issue. In her talk, Professor Greenberg presented their developing model for the first part of their study, examining whether a mediator’s implicit racial biases are exacerbated when conducting mediations for civil matters via video conferencing.
