For his outstanding contribution to the community of London, Fitzpatrick, Hunt & Pagano partner Garrett J. Fitzpatrick will receive the Freedom of the City of London. The award recognizes Fitzpatrick’s many years of service and work with the London Insurance Market and the Aviation Insurance Market.

Hon. P. Kevin Castel (SDNY) is the recipient of the New York State Bar Association Commercial and Federal Litigation Section’s Stanley H. Fuld award.

Claudia Cositore
is of counsel at Brent Mako, where he works in the firm’s real estate Group.

Selected out of almost 5000 entries, a poem by Roberta Beary earned a joint first prize in the Bridport Prize competition. The winning submission focuses on four generations of women from the same family. Beary’s fourth collection of poetry, Carousel, is forthcoming from Snapshot Press, UK.

Past St. John’s Law Alumni Association President Andrea Alonso announced that the partners, attorneys, and staff of O’Connor O’Connor Hintz & Deveney have joined Morris Duffy Alonso Faley & Pitcoff. In addition to Alonso, the firm now includes St. John’s Law alumni Brian Deveney ’79, John J. Duffy ’51, Kevin G. Faley ’83, Alfred Hintz ’84, Eugene Morenus ’83, John O’Connor’52, and Kenneth E. Pitcoff ’96.

New York Real Estate Journal featured Forchelli Deegan Terrana co-managing partner John V. Terrana as a 2022 Industry Leader. Terrana also announced that the attorneys and staff of Koeppel Martone & Leistman have joined his firm.

Linda Oliva has joined Danzi Law Partners as a partner.

Daniel P. Deegan
, a Forchelli Deegan Terrana partner who heads the firm’s industrial development agency, municipal incentives, and government relations practices, was featured in the inaugural edition of Long Island Business News’ Most Powerful Influencers of 2022.

James G. Bartolotto retired from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve after 33 years as a judge advocate on active duty and in the reserves, retiring with the rank of Colonel. Colonel Bartolotto still serves as a senior trial counsel with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Constitutional & Specialized Tort Litigation Section, Torts Branch, Civil Division, where he has worked since 2002.

The New York State Bar Association’s Criminal Justice Section named Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman partner Richard Donoghue the 2022 Outstanding Prosecutor. A former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Donoghue also served as acting U.S. Deputy Attorney General from December 2020 to January 2021.

Marie Napoli, a partner at Napoli Shkolnik, was on the cover Women Leaders in the Law, a New York Magazine publication.

Patricia Canzoneri has been elected a New York State Senator.

Cullen and Dykman managing partner Christopher H. Palmer was honored at the Real Estate Achievers and Leadership Awards. The award night spotlights entrepreneurs, professionals, and visionaries in Long Island’s real estate industry who have achieved success in their respective roles while also involved in community contributions and advocacy.

Dionne Greene has joined Active International as Associate General Counsel.

Reginald (Reggie) Rasch is Senior Vice President, General Counsel at Wolverine Worldwide, a global leader in branded performance footwear, apparel, and accessories.

Gary Rosner, a partner at Ritter Chusid, has been elected to the St. John’s Law Alumni Association’s board of directors

Dorothea Ioannou is CEO of the American P&I Club. She is the first woman appointed to lead one of the International P&I Group clubs which, collectively, insure 90% of the worlds ocean-going cargo and passenger ships.

For the fourth consecutive year, Law360 has named Adam Hakki a Banking MVP. Hakki, a global managing partner and global head of litigation at Shearman & Sterling, was also recognized by Lawdragon in its inaugural 500 Leading Litigators in America guide.

John Ho, co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s OSHA-workplace safety practice, was appointed management vice-chair of the American Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the Legal Profession Committee. He was also appointed to the advisory board of Thomson Reuters Practical Law Labor & Employment Service.

Jeffrey Varsalone is Managing Director at VRS Restructuring Services.

Joshua M. Sivin
has joined Blank Rome as of counsel in the firm’s New York City tax, benefits, and private client practice group .

Eli Avila, MD co-moderated a symposium on Legal and Medical Aspects of Opioids at the Day with the Judges in Oklahoma City.

The New York Real Estate Journal spotlighted Farrell Fritz partner David Curry as one of the 2022 Industry Leaders.

is Principal County Attorney in Suffolk County.

Sean Kelly received the Theodore A. Atlas Foundation’s Admiral Award. The community service organization provides financial and emotional support to individuals and organizations in need, and focuses particularly on the needs of children.

The New York Law Journal recognized Megan Ryan as a distinguished leader. Ryan, who is Chief Legal Officer at Nassau Health Care Corp., also serves as a Seton Hall University advisory board member.

Christine Mapes has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Incident Response Operations at Arete.

Peter J. Ryan has joined Conair as associate corporate counsel.

William Schleifer has joined Rivkin Radler as counsel in the firm’s professional liability practice group.

Sara M. Desoto Dorchak has joined Barclay Damon’s trademarks, copyrights & IP transactions practice group. She has over 10 years of experience in trademark and copyright prosecution and enforcement. In addition to her legal practice, Dorchak is an adjunct professor at St. John’s Law.

Laura Franklin has been promoted to partner at Mayer Brown, where she is a member of the firm’s real estate practice focusing on acquisitions and sales, leasing, and complex real estate financing.

Samuel Bazian was elected to partner at Herrick Feinstein, where he represents clients in commercial real estate disputes and handles mediations, arbitrations, and litigations on behalf of clients across other industries.

Alfred Williams has been elected partner at Morrison Foerster. He represents clients in complex commercial real estate transactions, with particular focus on the acquisition, financing, development, and operation of U.S. real estate assets.

Andrew Cauchi was promoted to counsel at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where he focuses on securities fraud class action litigation, shareholder derivative suits, litigation arising from mergers and acquisitions, internal investigations, and SEC and other governmental inquiries and investigations.

Sharly Larios, Director, Business & Legal Affairs at Sony Music Entertainment, has been elevated to Vice President of the Dominican Bar Association.

Ayanna Y. Thomas has been elected a member of Bond, Schoeneck & King. Her practice concentrates in school law as she represents public, private, and charter school clients, as well as colleges and universities in a range of matters.

Courtney Swartz has been promoted to senior counsel at Wood Smith Henning Berman, where she focuses her practice on complex tort and casualty, New York Labor Law, and motor vehicle negligence actions.

Madeline Tusa has been promoted to counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. She handles matters involving domestic and offshore private investment funds, and advises clients on fund documents, fund subscription materials, and other regulatory and compliance issues.
