Professor Miriam A. Cherry appeared on NPR’s Colin McEnroe show, discussing the topic “Radical or relevant? How the Luddites can help us relate to today’s technology.” The broadcast, which is also available on a podcast, explores Luddism, a movement that fought for workers’ rights but that in today’s parlance connotes someone who cannot understand technology. Professor Cherry was asked to comment on this topic because she wrote an alternative history story, reproduced here in the MIT Press Reader, which explored what would have happened if the Luddites had won.
