On November 2nd, Professors Rosa Castello and Rachel Paras presented in Boston at the New England Legal Writing Conference: The Future of Legal Education is Golden.
Professors Castello and Paras spoke on a panel addressing the ways professors can collaborate and incorporate assessments into legal writing and skills courses to introduce and prepare students for the NextGen Bar Exam. They presented an overview of skills that will be tested on the NextGen Bar exam and the integrated approach of the exam questions.
They then shared an exercise that they created to introduce Legal Writing students to skills that will be tested on the exam and that are also necessary for the practice of law: identifying rules that will affect the outcome of a case, identifying relevant facts, and identifying additional facts that might impact the outcome of the case. The presentation and the exercise they presented are part of an ongoing collaborative effort to rethink and revise courses to prepare students for the new bar exam.
