On March 26th, St. John’s Law hosted a virtual event organized by Melissa Kubit Angelides, Associate Director of Student Services, for the Tri-State Area Well-Being Consortium for Law Schools. The session, entitled “Relax, Recharge, Refocus: A Conversation of Well-Being in Law School,” featured Professor Colleen Parker and three St. John’s Law students, Tiffany Deplas, Frederick Giovanelli, and Arielle Sanders.
Professor Parker provided an introduction on why well-being should be prioritized in law schools, led a guided meditation, and moderated a student discussion. The students provided personal strategies on how they have integrated well-being practices into their law school experience. Some of their ideas included exercising, scheduling time with family and friends, creating to-do lists, and practicing gratitude. Students also appreciated the proactive approach that St. John’s Law has taken to enhance their well-being and provided insight into how law schools can continue to support their ability to thrive in law school and beyond.
