Professor Ashley B. Armstrong will serve as a Deputy Editor for the 2025 ABA Section of International Law Year in Review. The Year in Review is a comprehensive survey of international legal developments, co-authored by the Section of International Law committee members who live around the world and work on a wide range of issues. The annual publication is produced in cooperation with SMU Dedman School of Law.
Professor Armstrong also presented at the Legal Writing Institute’s (LWI) “Teacher Training Bootcamp 2.0″ on December 17th. The virtual workshop, hosted by Stetson University, covered second-semester 1L persuasive legal writing strategies. Professor Armstrong presented an exercise on helping students craft impactful preliminary statements. Her lesson leveraged participatory pedagogy, integrated think-pair-share cooperative learning strategy, and featured legal writing guru Ross Guberman’s four techniques for developing compelling themes. This is the third annual “Bootcamp 2.0.”
LWI also hosts a fall “New Teacher Training Bootcamp” that covers first semester best practices for predictive legal writing. LWI is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving legal communication by supporting the development of teaching and scholarly resources and establishing forums to discuss the study, teaching, and practice of professional legal writing.
