Professor Elaine Chiu had a busy March and April. She completed a Visiting Fellowship at the University of Sydney Law School where she did workshops with other legal academics and PhD candidates to discuss hate crime reforms. While in Australia, Professor Chiu also met with numerous Asian Australian advocates and visited local Chinatowns and museums.
In late April, she helped organize the Fifth Annual Asian American Pacific Islander-Middle Eastern North African Women Law Professors Workshop at Roger Williams University School of Law where she also presented her latest work-in-progress, Signals from Space, and moderated a panel about recent attacks on academic freedom.
Finally, Professor Chiu attended the Asian American Pacific Islander Summit hosted by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand at the US Capitol on April 30th.
